CLUBS Team Esbjerg vs. FOX Team Nord
In Esbjerg two teams that changed position before this season met in what was fought to
CL 2004/05 be a close encounter. Team Esbjerg was promoted to HBL while FOX Team Nord was
relegated to the 1st division before this season.
CWC For both teams it could be a vital game in the season, because the winner would have
good changes for a spot in next years EC-campaign (CWC).
EHF-CUP However the many experts were surprised to see a very one-sided clash. After 9 minutes
it was clear the home team had the overhand and Esbjerg went up with 5 goals (9-4).
FOX Team Nord had problems in the defence and tried to mark out Esbjerg-captain
Haandbæk during the match. This however just made L.Jensen and Benyats blossom and
they scored as pleased. The best players for FOX Team Nord were A.Kristensen and
  Möller.
There’s still a gap between the bottom of HBL and the top of 1st division, but FOX Team
Nord from the second best league in Denmark must nevertheless still be disappointed with
heavy loss. The ambitious club is building a new arena “Arena Nord” and is expected to
return to HBL for next season. They should have made a better result. On the other hand
Team Esbjerg continues their impressive form on home soil. In the league they won
against Horsens HK and now against FOX Team Nord in the Cup.

  Horsens HK vs. GOG/Gudme H
Horsens HK faced a difficult task against GOG/Gudme H. in their quarterfinal, but had the
upper hand during the entire match. Horsens is strong at home in their new arena at the
same time GOG was weakened… Mølgaard wasn’t present in the GOG-squad because of
  an injury.
From the beginning the home team took control and went up with 5 goals (7-2). Especially
goalie Nilsen and wing Wangsøe contributed to the impressive start.
In the absence of Mølgaard the GOG-offensive were without structure and flow.
Playmaker Wissel tried to keep GOG together, but it wasn’t enough against a great
Horsens defense. In the Horsens attack C.Kristensen and CK.Pedersen showed their skills
and walked as pleased thru a shattered GOG defense.
The match was decided 4 minutes from the end when Horsens went up with 9 goals
(29-20) and GOG was allowed to get some consolation goals before the final whistle.

Hylle (HHK): “We had a positive experience in the match
against Viborg (26-26). This gave us a good start today and
we played the way we want to play”

Bouwer (GOG): “We played a terrible match. The players
played too individual and never found each other”.

  Ikast/Bording EH vs. Randers HK
Ikast/Bording EH is in a too familiar situation. Many injured players and a new coach. As
usually the Ikast-board gambles by picking a coach without women-handball experience
and that doesn’t speak Danish. Last time it didn’t pay off when Fjeldstadt was fired after
only 2 months. After a terrible start to this season all odds are on a repetition.
Ikast however got some success in their quarterfinal against Randers HK and progressed
to the semis. It wasn’t pretty but fighting spirit that turned a probably loss into a win.
Nothing worked in the attack for Ikast and only some fast-break goals kept Ikast in the
match. Randers had more in the bag and in particular goalie Munteanu made a great
work. Randers worked them selves up to a 3 goal lead (8-11) at halftime the lead was cut
  down a single goal.
It looked like business as usually in the beginning of the second half… Randers expanded
their lead to 3 (13-16) and appeared to be cruising for a comfortable victory. Then Ikast-
player Milanovic got a direct red card which seemed highly unfair in a situation where
even a 2min suspension could be a bit hard. This situation gave the spectators and Ikast-
players the nerve they needed to get back into the match and in the last minutes Ikast
came from 4 goals behind (18-22) and won in the end with 29-26.

Milanovic (IBEH) – on the red card: “It was
a terrible decision by the referees – I went
for the ball and not her arm”

Mortensen (IBEH) – “The red card for Milanovic
was the wake up call we needed and we
  managed to turn things around”

  Slagelse DT vs. Viborg HK
As expected Anja Andersen rested her best players and let the Slagelse talents get some
experience. Only Hørlykke and Loft from the usual starting 16 were in the squad. Viborg
however came with everything they have got of firepower. Furthermore pivot Assink
made her comeback and it took her few minutes before she scored her first goal.
It was a strange match. Viborg were clearly better team than the Slagelse youngsters, but
Viborg never played at their best. The offensive man-marking defense from Slagelse
disturbed the tall Viborg-players and they had big problems getting flow in the attack.
Viborg went ahead with 6 goals (5-11) and looked to be cruising into the semis, but the
concentration was dropping fast. Especially the Viborg-defense was terrible. The Slagelse
youngsters were allowed to cut to 3 goals (11-14), before Viborg took them serious.
In the second half Viborg were still too polite. The concentration was completely missing
in their defensive work and in the attack they struggled with the man-marked system
  Slagelse were using.
The Slagelse talents played well and cut the gab to only 2 goals (18-20). At this point
some Slagelse-fans might have dreamed of a repetition of last years CL-match in Skopje
(19-19). The same youngsters who played in Skopje against Kometal could be on their
  way to a new sensation.
Then Viborg brought their own youngsters into the game… goalie Staun and playmaker
Troelsen. In particular Staun made an impressive impact on the match saving 4 penalties
in a row. Troelsen brought more speed into the Viborg attack and Viborg expanded their
  lead to 8 goals (20-28).
For Slagelse the best youngsters were Folden, Møller, Rajovic and Christiansen. They
might yet not have the routine or the physical strength, but they certainly have the
motivation and the will to make life difficult for a club like Viborg.

Assink (VHK) - about the Slagelse-lineup: "Well it's up to Slagelse to
Choose their squad. I would always choose the best possible lineup".
